Throughout April I used a popular wellbeing model that was introduced in Seligman's book 'Flourish' in 2004 as a framework for a 5 week series. The model is a mnemonic PERMA and stands for the below 5 elements.

One element a week was used as a theme for each week, including a weekly Facebook Live session. After the weekly live sessions, further info and blog posts were added around the same subject matter. 

Positive emotions

So, what are emotions? This question could be answered in many ways from the biological perspective of chemical messengers to the psychology behind our thought processes. Fundamentally, they are a 'feeling' that is communicating something to you. Even negative emotions such as anger have a purpose; to fight against injustice. Self-awareness is key here and therefore emotional literacy was explored during this session.
